Biography

Portrait of artist Véronique Fel exhibited at Galerie Sarto Paris 7

Véronique Fel discovered photography at secondary school. Unable to draw, she turned to this art form, and her photographs became her drawings. It was a revelation. What an adventure to be able to immortalise everything that touched and interested her! Wanting to give everything around her a chance to find its place in her compositions, she also learned to be very patient.

This attraction to images led her to study film and video at university. This was followed by almost twenty years of a first career in production at two major TV news agencies in Paris, before she decided, in 2010, to follow her inner voice and leave everything behind to devote herself fully to her passion: photography.

In 2017, she travelled to Cuba. The trip inspired her, and she loved the strong light on the island. In particular, she discovered the pictorial and graphic appeal of the unique zenith light. However, this light is often criticised in the world of photography. Difficult to capture, it is said to be blinding and overwhelming. Véronique, on the contrary, finds it sensitive, fascinating and daring. Despite its complexity, she draws inspiration from it and makes it the driving force behind her photographs. She captures a moment in life, frozen in this harsh light. There are no shadows, the colours are vivid, almost unreal, as if painted, and the lines seem to be drawn. She has found her signature style.
