Léo Caillard (1985 - )

Biography

Léo Caillard, a French artist born in Paris in 1985, explores our relationship with time through a fusion of epochs and anachronisms, prompting us to reflect on the present in relation to our past. Inspired by science and the concerns of our contemporary society, he invites us to take a fresh look at our times, open to history, in order to rethink our future.

Graduating from the École des Gobelins in 2008, Caillard became interested in exploring time and quantum physics, moving from the world of numbers to an artistic career. He began producing his first works in the 2010s, notably the «Hipsters in Stone» series, which questions our social codes through the clothing of statues in the Louvre. Since 2013, he has been creating sculptures in dialogue with time, such as the «Hipsters in Bronze» series, and since 2015 he has been working on new creations based on light and stone. He positions himself within a contemporary artistic movement, which he describes as «neo-Renaissance», seeking to draw on classical cultures to build a future richer in meaning and beauty.
