Julian Arnaud (1978 - )

Biography

Julian Arnaud is a French artist, born in 1978 in La Baule, on the Atlantic coast.

This self-taught painter and sculptor has been fascinated by architecture, the Bauhaus schools and the Stijl artistic movements since the age of 15.

He began painting under the influence of those he admired, such as Piet Mondrian and Le Corbusier; he soon discovered the works of Mark Rothko and Pierre Soulages, as well as those of Constantin Brancusi. These artists fascinated him by the apparent simplicity of their creations, both in the choice of shapes, colours and proportions.

He thus naturally created his own universe, marked by a single desire: a balanced and timeless aestheticism.

Julian sees art as a research laboratory, and sets no boundaries in the use of materials. It is a perpetual learning process that allows him to develop new processes that he is constantly perfecting.

Julian creates works where the play of materials, volume, shadows and light is both sober and powerful.
